Baby Shower - Cristina Gibson 6/25/10

Had a baby shower at work for a co-worker.  This cake was made using the Wilton Stork Pan.  It was a chocolate cake decorated with medium consistency buttercream icing.

The cake wasn't that big so I made some cupcakes to go with it.  They were vanilla cake also iced with buttercream, decorated with plastic baby shapes.

Pink bootie, white chocolate suckers were the party favors for everyone.

Laura's Bay-bee Shower - 2/6/10

I didn't know if this cake would actually happen.  I ended up getting really sick right before the baby shower and didn't think that I would be up for making the cake.  Luckily, I started feeling better and had just enough time to pull it off.  We threw a Bee Themed shower for our friend Laura because she was decorating her nursery in a bee theme.  It all turned out very cute!  This cake was made using the Wilton Lady Bug cake pan, which also includes directions for a butterfly and a bee.  From what I'm told the cake tasted good...I wouldn't know because I had no sense of taste or smell for about 5 days from being sick.  Anyway, the wings and tail are the only parts that are not edible.  They were made from cardboard and covered in plastic and decorated with icing before inserting into the cake.

The bees on these cup cakes were made by cutting gum drops in half and lightly flattening them a little.  The stripes and eyes were made with icing and the antennas were little chocolate sptinkles.

Baby Jungle Animal Baby Shower Cake - 9/12/09

Just a little over a year ago I had the privilege of making my first ever wedding cake for Karla.  I was honored to be able to make her baby shower cake as well!  I was dying to get my hands on the new cake stand from Wilton so this was the perfect excuse!  I used the invitations that were sent out as my inspiration.
The entire cake is vanilla cake w/ raspberry preserve filling, iced w/ buttercream icing and covered w/ fondant.
Most of the decorations are plastic - I would have made them out of fondant but since I was able to find cute ones at the store I bought them to save time.
The palm trees are made of fondant leaves attached to pretzel rods w/ white chocolate that was tinted green.
The cake took waaaaaaay longer than expected because I really didn't know exactly what I was going to do for it...I was basically making it up as I went along.  If I had to make it all over it would take A LOT less time.  I am VERY pleased with the way it turned out, though!

Baby Shower cupcakes - 1/11/09

My Sorority Alumnae Chapter held a baby shower for one of our sister's.  I didn't have time to make anyting fancy so I kept it simple with strawberry cupcakes with strawberry frosting.  It was also an excuse for me to buy the cupcake stand that I've been wanting to get!

Dana's Baby Shower - Chocolate Rubber Duckies - 12/7/08

As you can probably guess the theme for the shower was rubber duckies!  I made this arrangemant using a block of foam covered with a piece of water printed fabric and blue silk ribbon around the edge.  I put a large rubber bath ducky in the middle and then surrounded it with the suckers.  The suckers were the favors for the guests to take home!
