Yvette's Good Bye Party - 4/2/10

This cake was made using the butterfly cake pan from Nordicware and a regular square cake pan for the base.

Laura's Bay-bee Shower - 2/6/10

I didn't know if this cake would actually happen.  I ended up getting really sick right before the baby shower and didn't think that I would be up for making the cake.  Luckily, I started feeling better and had just enough time to pull it off.  We threw a Bee Themed shower for our friend Laura because she was decorating her nursery in a bee theme.  It all turned out very cute!  This cake was made using the Wilton Lady Bug cake pan, which also includes directions for a butterfly and a bee.  From what I'm told the cake tasted good...I wouldn't know because I had no sense of taste or smell for about 5 days from being sick.  Anyway, the wings and tail are the only parts that are not edible.  They were made from cardboard and covered in plastic and decorated with icing before inserting into the cake.

The bees on these cup cakes were made by cutting gum drops in half and lightly flattening them a little.  The stripes and eyes were made with icing and the antennas were little chocolate sptinkles.
